Position Overview
The Prep Cook plays a critical role in the quality and consistency of everything served at Smoke & Maple.
This position is responsible for preparing ingredients and menu components according to established recipes, prep lists, and food-safety standards. The right candidate is organized, dependable, comfortable with repetition, and committed to doing each task correctly.
Great service starts long before the first ticket reaches the kitchen. It starts with thoughtful preparation and people who refuse to cut corners.
REQUIREMENTS
- Previous kitchen or food-preparation experience required
- Experience in a full-service restaurant, gastropub, or high-volume kitchen preferred
- Strong knife skills and knowledge of basic food-preparation techniques
- Ability to follow recipes, prep lists, portioning instructions, and quality standards
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work efficiently without sacrificing accuracy
- Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays, and high-volume shifts
- Dependable work ethic and professional appearance
- Strong communication skills and a team-first attitude
- Willingness to assist throughout the kitchen when needed
- Must meet all applicable local and state food-safety requirements
